Report from the joint meeting of the Egyptian Ophthalmological Society (EOS) and the European Society of Ophthalmology (SOE), March 12-14, 2008 in Cairo, Egypt.
Last year Egypt joined the European Society of Ophthalmology (SOE) as an associate member. Now Bo Philipson, Albert Alm, Peep Algvere, Per Fagerholm, Stefan Seregard, Mats Lundström and Gerd Holmström representing SOE visited the annual meeting of the Egyptian Ophthalmological Society (EOS) on March 12 -14, 2008 in Cairo. The congress was arranged as a joint meeting between SOE and EOS covering topics like retina, cataract, refractive surgery, cornea, glaucoma, paediatric ophthalmology and ocular oncology.
The SOE lecturers held some 20 lectures during the three day meeting. Fourteen of these lectures were 30 minute key-note presentations. The meeting of the Egyptian Society was efficient and very well organized, providing much opportunity for interaction between the SOE lectures and Egyptian ophthalmologists
