SOE Young Ophthalmologists - SOE YO
The Council has agreed on its meeting at SOE Congress in Vienna in June 2007, to create a programme called SOE Young Ophthalmologists (SOE Yo).
This programme is intended for residents and young specialists up to 5 years after board certification. The programme will consist of open forum for exchange of ideas and information about training, advise on observerships, fellowships and career building, and led sessions at major conferences (including the SOE congress) and social events.
The forum will operate via a new website page that will be created shortly at theSOE website www.soevision.org.
The programme activities will also include sessions at the major congresses such as SOE 2009 in Amsterdam, as well as contacts and communications with the American Academy of Ophthalmology Young ophthalmologists programme (AAO Yo). First such joint session of AAO Yo and SOE Yo will be held already this year at the AAO congress in Atlanta.
The programme will be organised by the Education committee of the SOE. The executive committee of the SOE has appointed dr.Anthony Khawaja (apk@doctors.org.uk), young ophthalmologist from Moorfields Eye hospital, to act as the coordinator of the programme. We have informed approximately 550 SOE and EBO grant applicants from last 3 generations about the programme directly.
All young ophthalmologists in European countries who would be interested to collaborate in this exciting and dynamic new SOE programme, are kindly requested to send the following data:
- name,
- work address
- status (year of residency or years after obtaining the title of specialist)
They should send their data to SOE secretariat to Ms. Anastasia Duval at secretariat@soevision.org
